Maintenance Recommendations

New installation of safety mattingAll-Safe playground rubber mat is a natural rubber product that will remain soft and durable over many years. There will be some small change in the appearance of our playground rubber mat due to ageing and wear and tear, however this will be minimal and should not affect the performance of this product.

All-Safe Guardian achieves a critical fall height of 800mm concrete and up to 2.8 metres under natural conditions plus exceeds 3.2m after watering. To maintain optimum performance of your playground rubber safety mat, we recommend the following procedure.

  1. Remove any obstacles, rubbish or stones from the safety surfacing. Daily if possible.
  2. Joins- Check monthly, all seams are secure and perimeter pins are in place. (Fasteners and adhesives available from All-Safe)
  3. Grass establishment in mats: This is an effective part of the All-Safe playground rubber safety mat system: Ensure that grass is kept well watered in summer months to maintain healthy turf with soft soil under-base.
  4. Fertilising Lawn. For initial establishment the addition of Nitrophoska Blue Extra 3kg per 100m2 area will help. For yearly program, general lawn fertiliser in spring and early autumn at 3kg per 100m2 area. This should be well watered in. (Fertiliser available from All-Safe)
  5. Mowing with rotary mower and catcher at 40mm height. This acts as a cleaning procedure for safety surfacing with the vacuum action of a rotary mower. Your requirements for mowing will be approximately 6 to 8 times per year depending on your area, (we use a special slow type of slow growing grass seed).
  6. Relaying Mats: If soil contamination of mats occurs due to surface soil being spread on top or a drainage problem causing subsidence, the playground rubber mat can be lifted, cleaned and re-laid over Greendure underlay fabrics (contact All-Safe for procedures and materials). The playground rubber mat with well established turf thatch covering it, need not be cleaned off or re-laid as this adds to the effectiveness of the system.
